Abdul Awal Mridha – Executive Director & Member Secretary
Abdul Awal Mridha, a Bangladeshi national, born on November 21, 1949, brings over 35 years of experience in the development field. Holding an M.Sc. in Agricultural Extension Education from Bangladesh Agricultural University and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agricultural Education from the University of Agriculture in Faisalabad, Pakistan, Mridha has established a strong educational foundation.
Proficient in English and Bengali, both spoken and written, Mridha is a member of various Trainers, Researchers, and Development Forums. His proficiency extends to research methodology, data processing, and the use of tools like SPSS.
As an Independent Consultant since January 2013, Mridha has provided consulting services for training, review and evaluation, and socio-economic studies. He is serving as the Executive Director at Technical Assistance for Rural Development (TARD) from February 1981 till date.
Throughout his career, Abdul Awal Mridha has actively contributed to human rights, democracy, and governance initiatives. He has organized civil society organizations, facilitated capacity-building programs, and engaged in lobbying and advocacy efforts nationally and internationally.
His diverse experiences span Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Thailand, Nepal, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, and the USA. His collaborative work includes partnerships with UNDP, UNICEF, World Bank, FAO, UNESCO, and SDC on issues such as food security, human rights, and gender equality.
In his role at TARD, Abdul Awal Mridha played a pivotal role in program development and management. His responsibilities included guiding development partners on training, evaluation studies, and institution building. He is well-versed in Project Cycle Management, Strategic Planning, and Participatory Planning and Management.
